For YouTube as well, using keyboard shortcuts can save a lot of mouse clicks. We have listed them for you.

Apply YouTube keyboard shortcuts

It is not practical to memorize all YouTube keyboard shortcuts. Review the list and identify the actions you use most often. If you use them for a few days, you will find that you won’t forget them anymore.

Take the spacebar as an example for pausing a video. That alone already saves many mouse clicks.

Explanation of YouTube keyboard shortcuts

SPACEBAR

The SPACEBAR pauses a video on YouTube. Pressing the SPACEBAR again resumes playback.

To start a video when opening it, the spacebar does not work.

TAB

When you press the Tab key, YouTube selects the next element on the screen. Use Enter or SPACE to activate the selected option.

Example: if you have clicked the play button in the video, you can use TAB to move to the fullscreen option.

SHIFT+TAB

SHIFT+TAB moves to the previous option. Use Enter or SPACE to activate the selected option.

Number keys 0 through 9

Using the number keys, you can jump directly to a specific point in the video. 0 represents 0% (the beginning), 1 represents 10%, and so on up to 9 for 90%.

F

Press F to play the video in full screen. Note that this key may not work for some users.
